Swizzle Stick and Cocktail napkin from
Joe DiMaggio's World Famous Restaurant
& Cocktail lounge, overlooking the
world-famous Fisherman's Wharf in San
Francisco. In 1937, a season removed
from his All-Star rookie season with
the New York Yankees, Joe DiMaggio
invested $25,000 in the restaurant.
Named "Joe DiMaggio's Grotto," he
brought his brothers in, and left Tom
in charge to run the business. Their
farther Giuseppe was a lifelong
fisherman, as were generations of
DiMaggio's before him. Not long before
the restaurant was opened, the father
and older brothers set out every
morning to take crabs off the ocean
floor. Joe received a wholesale price
of 22 cent a crab for his catch. |

Living in the St. Louis area with his
family, Stan Musial always worried
about his baseball career, about
getting hurt, and wanted a business to
fall back on. After befriending Julius
"Biggie" Garagnani, owner of Biggie's
Steak House, Musial bought a house.
Stan then spoke with Biggie about a partnership in the restaurant. Musial
officially became Biggie's partner in
January of 1949. This
swizzle stick,
and cocktail glass is from Stan Musial
& Biggies Steak House in St. Louis. |

This crossed bats and ball swizzle
stick is from the prestigious
Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown N.Y. The
back back reads "Visit The Baseball
Hall Of Fame" During the Hall Of Fame
induction week-end, this historic hotel
which was built in 1909, turns into an
exclusive weekend hideaway for Hall of
Famers and their families. The hotel
closes down to the public to host Major
League Baseball stars coming into town
for the annual Hall of Fame Induction.
Some notable names of past inductees
include Cal Ripken, Nolan Ryan and
Reggie Jackson.
The 1957 World Series featured the
National League Champion Milwaukee
Braves defeating the American League
pennant winning New York Yankees. This
was the Braves first pennant since
moving from Boston in 1953. This
1957
World Series Cocktail napkin with the
Rally Cry "Let's Go All The Way!" was
made by MILAPACO - Milwaukee Lace Paper
Company. Using a Milwaukee Braves color
scheme, it features a Braves Pennant at
the top of a flagpole above a Yankees
flag. |

This swizzle stick is from
Al
Schacht's "Score Card" Restaurant's
"Right field" cocktail lounge. Al
Schacht was a Major League pitcher for
the Washington Senators from 1919 to
1921. He later became a 3rd base coach,
and his comedic antics from the
coaching lines with fellow Washington
coach Nick Altrock, earned him the
nickname of "The Clown Prince of
Baseball." In 1942 Schacht cited that
tire and gas restrictions, rationing
for the war effort, forced him to
abandon his diamond antics and he
decided to open a cafe in New York. It
soon became a popular destination for
local sports stars and celebrities. The
Restaurant operated into the 1960's.
This
Cocktail Napkin is from the Dugout
Lounge at Mickey Mantle's Holliday Inn.
In 1956, Harold D. Youngman approached
Mickey Mantle about leasing and
operating a Holiday Inn hotel in
Joplin, Missouri.
It was agreed that Mickey would be named the president of the Mickey
Mantle Motel Corp., the Holiday Inn,
and Youngman would be the vice
president. The hotel opened for
business on January 10, 1957.
This World Series 12 ounce Highball
Glass was 1 of a set of 8 Championship
Sports glasses issued by Sport Kings.
As advertised "Check Sports Records
While You Enjoy Your Favorite Drink"
The
World Series
cocktail glass
features a gold leaf illustrated
baseball player swinging a bat above a
gold leaf platform.
The 29 World Series winners listed in
white lettering from 1924 to 1952 is
framed with a gold leaf arrow
design border. At the top of the
boarder is a window that reads "WORLD
SERIES" in white.
Sport Kings also issued highball and
cocktail glasses featuring World Series
winners from 1932 through 1945. This 12
ounce World Series Highball Glass was 1
of a set of 8
Championship Sports glasses issued in
1964.
The 8 sports included: All Time Greats, National Football Champions,
National Basketball Champions, Men's
Singles Tennis Championship, U.S. Open
Golf Champions, Kentucky Derby Winners,
National Heavyweight Champions, and
Baseball which lists all of the World
Series winners from 1946 through 1963.

This crossed bats & baseball swizzle
Stick is from Reedy's Tavern Restaurant
in Cooperstown. Located at 43 Pioneer
street, just around the corner from the
Baseball Hall Of Fame and museum.
Reedys Picture Bar was a popular eatery
in the 1950s. "Phone 828 for
reservations" Established in 2019,
Molly's Deli currently resides at that
address.
If you go to a News Years party this
year, be sure to use a beverage coaster
when you put your drink down. This
Miller High Life World Series
Coaster-Computer was manufacture by
Morse Associates in 1976. The beverage
coaster reads "Watch The World Series
On Network TV Sponsored by Miller High
Life Beer"
In pulling the slide card in or out of the beverage coaster, All-Time
World Series records can be displayed
in the "Record-Finder" results window
such as player milestones for; Most
World SeriesGames, Most Home Runs,
Hits, doubles, triples, etc... as the
query listed on the back of the
coaster. The reverse side of the slide
card with "Slide Show" at the top,
lists "World Series Results 1903-1975." |

Swizzle Stick from Mike Shannon's
Steak and Seafood restaurant. Located
in downtown St. Louis, the restaurant
became a pre-game and post-game hangout
for baseball fans since it opened in
1986. Just a couple of blocks from
Busch Stadium It is owned by St. Louis
Cardinals radio-TV announcer and former
player Mike Shannon. All the walls in
the restaurant were covered with
baseball pictures. There was also a
mural on one wall of the Cardinals
announcers with free matching postcards
on each table. After 30 years the
restaurant closed in 2016. |

In 1987, New York Yankees first
baseman Don Mattingly opened
Mattingly’s 23 Restaurant & Lounge, at
1700 N. Morgan Center Drive,
Evansville, Indiana. The 7,000 sq. ft.
restaurant and lounge, featured a
carpeted floor laid out like a baseball
diamond, and two dugouts where you
could sit. Mattingly's 23, which took
its name from Mattingly's jersey
number, seated 269 people and featured
sports memorabilia throughout the
establishment. The swizzle sticks
feature Mattingly's Yankee jersey # 23. |
